Most of the cars above are common CNG conversions, and gas asks different things of a spark plug than petrol does. All four differences point the same way here. CNG runs hotter. There is no liquid fuel evaporating to cool the intake charge, so combustion temperatures climb. This plug is heat range 7, one step colder than the standard plug, which is the direction a gas engine wants. CNG is harder to light. It needs more ignition voltage than petrol. The fine iridium wire concentrates the spark and fires at lower voltage, so it works with the gas rather than against it. CNG wears electrodes faster. Gas is harder on a plug than petrol is. Iridium barely erodes, which is exactly where it pays for itself. On CNG an ordinary plug is something you replace often. CNG burns clean. Almost no carbon, so the colder heat range carries no fouling penalty on a gas car. Fit them as supplied. It is still worth having the plugs checked slightly earlier than on a petrol-only car, simply because gas is harder on them.
