NGage Hyper Flow Universal Pod Air Filter – 49mm ID, 150-250cc
Read this first. NGage supplies this filter for closed track purposes. It is a pod filter: it replaces the airbox rather than sitting inside it. That changes how the engine draws air and takes the motorcycle away from the intake configuration it was emissions-tested in, so it is not intended for a road-registered bike in regular use. Fit it to a track or competition machine, or one you are prepared to run outside stock specification.
What it is
A washable, reusable cotton-gauze pod filter with a 49mm internal diameter inlet, sized for motorcycles in the 150cc to 250cc range running an aftermarket or open intake. Four layers of surgical-grade cotton gauze sit between epoxy-coated aluminium mesh, with support pillars to hold the shape under airflow. It arrives factory pre-oiled.
Unlike the model-specific Hyper Flow filters we stock, this one is not cut to any particular airbox. It is a universal part, and fitment depends on your intake plumbing rather than on your motorcycle model.
Will it fit
The only number that matters is the inlet internal diameter: 49mm. Measure the outside diameter of the throttle body spigot or intake tube you intend to clamp it to. If that measures 49mm, this filter fits. If it does not, this is the wrong part regardless of what motorcycle it is on.
Because it is universal, we cannot confirm fitment from a model name alone. Send us the measurement and we will help with fitment guidance.
Tuning
A pod filter flows considerably more air than a stock airbox element. On a carburetted engine expect to rejet. On a fuel-injected engine the ECU will trim within its range, but the mixture will sit lean of where it should be under load, and a fuelling module or remap is the sensible companion to this part rather than an optional extra.
Running an open pod on a stock map is the most common way to get a disappointing result from one, so plan the tune alongside the filter.
Care
Cotton gauze is washable and reusable. Clean and re-oil it when it is visibly loaded, sooner in dust. A pod filter sits in open air rather than inside a sealed box, so it picks up dirt faster than a panel filter does and wants checking more often. NGage sells a cleaning and recharge kit, and you can add one to this order using the option above.
