Sprint Filter PM252S P08 Air Filter for Aprilia RS 457
The Aprilia RS 457 breathes through a compact airbox with very little room for compromise. The Sprint Filter PM252S replaces the factory paper element with a single layer of Italian-made polyester tissue that flows substantially more air, drops straight into the OE airbox, and never needs a drop of oil.
A dry filter, not an oiled one
Almost every performance air filter sold in India is oiled cotton gauze. It works, but it comes with a routine: strip it, wash it, dry it completely, re-oil it evenly, and hope you did not over-oil it. Too much oil migrates downstream, and on a fuel-injected bike that residue ends up where you do not want it.
Sprint Filter's P08 media is dry polyester. To service it you take it out, blow it through with compressed air, and put it back. No cleaning solvents, no oil, no drying time, no risk of contaminating the intake tract. For a bike that spends its life between traffic and the occasional track day, that is a materially easier ownership story.
The numbers Sprint publishes
Sprint Filter is unusually specific about its media, which makes it possible to compare grades honestly rather than by adjective:
-
Filtration: traps debris down to 80 microns
-
Airflow: 5,050 litres per square metre per second
-
Media: single-layer polyester tissue, 70 micron wire diameter
-
Servicing: dry, compressed air only
Sprint cite independent testing by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, in which the P08 polyester tissue recorded the highest airflow of the leading air filter brands tested, including filters sold as race items. That is Sprint's claim and their test, and we pass it on as such.
Which Sprint grade is right for you
Sprint make three media grades, and the trade-off between airflow and filtration is real. More airflow means a coarser weave:
-
P08 (this filter) — 80 micron, 5,050 l/m²/sec. Maximum airflow. Road and track use on sealed surfaces.
-
P14 — 14 micron, 1,800 l/m²/sec. Finer filtration for genuinely dusty routes and high-mileage daily use.
-
T12 — 7 micron, 560 l/m²/sec. Off-road, gravel and desert conditions.
The RS 457 is a road and track motorcycle, which is why Sprint catalogue the P08 for it. If you ride predominantly on dust-heavy roads, talk to us before ordering and we will tell you what is actually available for your bike rather than selling you the wrong grade.
Built to outlast the service schedule
Polyester is a manmade fibre and, looked after properly, shows no meaningful loss of structure or filtering performance over time. Where a paper element is a consumable you buy again every service, the PM252S is a component you fit once and clean periodically. Over the life of the motorcycle that changes the arithmetic considerably.
The element is manufactured in Italy by Sprint Filter, who supply filters into World Superbike and Grand Prix paddocks. This is the same media technology, in a road-legal replacement size.
Fitment guidance
Sprint catalogue the PM252S for the Aprilia RS 457, 2024 onwards. It is a drop-in replacement for the factory element and requires no modification to the airbox, no trimming and no additional hardware.
If you are unsure whether this is the correct part for your bike or your model year, send us your registration details and we will help you check before you order.
