Sprint Filter CM196S P08 Air Filter for Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 / Continental GT 650 / Bear 650
The 648cc parallel twin is an easy-going engine that responds well to breathing better. The Sprint Filter CM196S is the maximum-airflow option in Sprint's range for the 650 twins. It drops straight into the factory airbox and replaces the paper element for good.
A dry filter, not an oiled one
Almost every performance air filter sold in India is oiled cotton gauze. It works, but it comes with a routine:
strip it, wash it, dry it completely, re-oil it evenly, and hope you did not over-oil it.
Sprint Filter's P08 media is different. It is a dry filter: to service it you take it out, blow it through with compressed air, and put it back. No cleaning solvents, no oil, no drying time, and no risk of oil residue migrating downstream into the intake tract of a fuel-injected engine.
The numbers Sprint publishes
Sprint Filter is unusually specific about its media, which makes it possible to compare grades honestly
rather than by adjective:
-
Filtration: traps debris down to 80 microns
-
Airflow: 5,050 litres per square metre per second
-
Media: single-layer polyester tissue, 70 micron wire diameter
-
Servicing: dry, compressed air only
Which Sprint grade is right for you
Sprint make three media grades, and the trade-off between airflow and filtration is real.
More airflow means a coarser weave:
-
P08 (this filter) — 80 micron, 5,050 l/m²/sec. Road and track use on sealed surfaces.
-
P14 — 14 micron, 1,800 l/m²/sec. Finer filtration for genuinely dusty routes and high-mileage daily use.
-
T12 — 7 micron, 560 l/m²/sec. Off-road, gravel and desert conditions.
Not every grade is made for every motorcycle. If you are unsure which one suits how you actually ride,
ask us before ordering and we will tell you what Sprint catalogue for your bike.
Built to outlast the service schedule
Polyester is a manmade fibre and, looked after properly, shows no meaningful loss of structure or filtering
performance over time. Where a paper element is a consumable you buy again at every service, the CM196S is a
component you fit once and clean periodically. Over the life of the motorcycle that changes the arithmetic
considerably.
The element is manufactured in Italy by Sprint Filter, who supply filters into World Superbike and Grand Prix
paddocks. This is the same media technology, in a road-legal replacement size.
