HB 155 / HBS 155 Rear Brake Pads – Whisker Ceramic & Sintered (Rear Only)

The NGage HB 155 and HBS 155 are disc brake pads for motorcycles whose rear brake caliper specifies this exact pad shape. They are direct-replacement components and do not alter caliper geometry, disc size, or braking system architecture.

Pad code and fitment logic

A pad code defines the physical shape and mounting interface of the pad. Only pads carrying the matching code belong in a given caliper.

• HB 155 is the Whisker Ceramic compound.

• HBS 155 is the Sintered compound.

Both share identical dimensions, backing plate profile and mounting points. Only the friction material differs. Fitting a pad of a different shape can cause improper seating, uneven wear, noise, reduced braking efficiency or damage to the brake system.

Choosing between the two compounds

HB 155 – Whisker Ceramic. A ceramic friction compound reinforced with whisker filament, blended with ceramic, mineral and aramid fibre and copper. NGage rates it for 15,000 to 25,000 km under normal riding, with thermal resistance to 650°C and a friction coefficient of 0.45 to 0.60. Chosen for controlled feel, low dust and quiet running on the road.

HBS 155 – Sintered. A metallic compound fused under heat and pressure, using copper, steel and brass powders with graphite and carbon fibre modifiers. NGage rates it for 12,000 to 18,000 km, with thermal resistance to 1000°C and a friction coefficient of 0.55 to 0.65. Chosen for higher thermal stability and consistent bite under sustained load.

Installation and service

Brake pads are a wearing part. Replace them at the manufacturer's service interval or once pad thickness reaches the wear limit. Standard brake service applies: clean the caliper and pad guides, check disc condition, seat the pads correctly, torque the hardware to specification and bed the pads in before hard use.
