The holes and slots give heat, dust and water a path off the braking surface, which helps the pad keep clean contact under repeated hard braking. Supplied as a set of two, so one unit does both wheels on the axle. You do not need to order two.

How do I know if my car is the 256 mm or the 288 mm?

This family was built with two different front brake systems and they do not interchange. Check the PR code on the sticker in the boot, usually under the spare wheel, or in the service book.

PR 1ZG	256 mm front discs. This part.
PR 1ZC	288 mm front discs. This part will NOT fit. Message us and we will send the right one.

The front brake pads differ between the two systems as well, so if you are replacing both, confirm the PR code first.

How do I know when the disc needs replacing?

Measure across the braking surface at its thinnest point. This disc is 22 mm when new and the minimum is 19 mm. Once it reaches minimum thickness it must be replaced, not skimmed.

Will this fit my car?

01 What do drilled and slotted brake discs actually do?

The holes and slots give hot gas, dust and water a path off the braking surface. That keeps the pad in cleaner contact with the disc under repeated hard braking, which helps resist fade.

02 Does this fit every Polo, Vento, Rapid and Fabia?

No. This is the 256 mm front disc, which is PR code 1ZG. Cars built with PR 1ZC use a 288 mm front disc and this will not fit them. Check the PR code sticker in the boot or your service book, and message us if you are unsure.

03 Are these front or rear discs?

Front axle. Supplied as a set of two, so one unit does both wheels on the axle. You do not need to order two.

04 What is the minimum thickness?

19 mm. Measure across the braking surface at its thinnest point; once it reaches that figure the disc must be replaced rather than skimmed.

05 How does this compare with the Brembo disc you also sell?

Both are 256 mm and both fit the same PR 1ZG cars. BrakeKraft is the more affordable option and is cross-drilled and slotted; the Brembo 09.7011.11 is the plain OE-specification disc.
