    Description

The lever feel a rubber hose gives away

A standard rubber brake line swells slightly every time you pull the lever. That expansion is movement the brake caliper never sees, and it is why a hot brake starts to feel soft halfway down a hill.

This hose is built around a Diken Japan PTFE inner liner. PTFE holds its shape under pressure and heat, so the force applied at the lever arrives at the caliper instead of being absorbed by the line. The result is a firmer lever, a more predictable bite point and braking that behaves the same on the tenth stop as on the first.

Fittings are chrome polished banjo, finished to sit properly on a bike where the brake line is visible.

    Specifications

    • Diken Japan original PTFE inner liner
    • Low expansion under pressure and heat
    • Chrome polished banjo fittings
    • Available in 850mm, 1000mm and 1300mm
    • 850mm and 1000mm suit front and mid routing
    • 1300mm suits rear and taller routing

Line length depends on your motorcycle and on any bar or suspension changes. Get in touch for fitment guidance before ordering.

    Specifications

      Pros and cons

      Pros
      • PTFE liner holds pressure, giving a firmer lever
      • a more predictable bite point
      • Diken Japan inner tube rather than a generic PTFE core
      • Resists the fade in lever feel that a hot rubber hose develops on a long descent
      • Chrome polished banjo fittings look right where the line is visible
      • Three lengths
      • four colours cover most front, mid
      • rear routing
      Cons
      • Brake lines are safety critical, have them fitted
      • bled by a competent mechanic
      • Length depends on your bike
      • any bar or suspension changes, so measure before ordering
      • Banjo bolts
      • crush washers are not included
      • A braided line sharpens feel but will not fix worn pads or a sticking caliper
      Common Questions 5
01 What length do I need?

It depends on your motorcycle and on any handlebar or suspension changes you have made. As a rough guide, 850mm and 1000mm suit front and mid routing, 1300mm suits rear or taller setups. Measure your existing line along its actual routing, then get in touch and we will help you confirm.

02 Why does a braided line improve braking?

A rubber hose swells slightly under pressure, and that expansion is movement the caliper never sees. A PTFE lined braided hose holds its shape, so more of the force at the lever reaches the caliper. You feel it as a firmer lever and a more consistent bite point, especially when the brakes are hot.

03 Can I fit this myself?

We do not recommend it unless you are experienced. Brake lines are safety critical and the system has to be bled correctly afterwards with no air left in it. Have a competent mechanic fit and bleed them.

04 Are banjo bolts and washers included?

No. The hose is supplied with its chrome polished banjo fittings, but you will need banjo bolts and fresh copper crush washers. Never reuse old crush washers.

05 Will this fix my spongy brakes?

It will help if the softness comes from hose expansion. It will not help if the cause is air in the system, worn pads, old fluid or a sticking caliper. Diagnose the cause first.
