Brembo L15210 is a fully synthetic DOT 5.1 brake fluid, low viscosity, supplied in a 1 litre bottle.

Low viscosity fluid stays thinner at low temperature, which lets ABS and stability control systems move fluid quickly in cold conditions. Where a car specifies a low viscosity fluid, a standard one is not a substitute.

The figures below are the minimums the DOT 5.1 standard itself requires, not measured values for this bottle.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air over time, and that moisture lowers its boiling point long before the fluid looks dirty. Most manufacturers specify a change every two years regardless of mileage. Never mix a glycol-based fluid with DOT 5 silicone fluid, and never reuse fluid that has been opened and left standing.

Which fluid does my car take

The required specification is printed on your brake fluid reservoir cap and in the owner's handbook. A fluid meeting a higher DOT number may be used where a lower one is specified, but never the reverse. If you are unsure, send us your registration number and we will help you confirm it.

01 What boiling point does DOT 5.1 require?

The DOT 5.1 standard requires a minimum dry boiling point of 260 °C and a minimum wet boiling point of 180 °C. Wet means after the fluid has absorbed moisture in service, which is why the change interval matters.

02 Can I use DOT 5.1 where DOT 4 is specified?

Yes if your handbook allows a higher specification. DOT 5.1 is glycol based and mixes with DOT 3 and DOT 4. Going the other way, a lower specification than the car asks for, is not safe.

03 How often should brake fluid be changed?

Most manufacturers specify every two years regardless of mileage. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, and that moisture lowers its boiling point well before the fluid looks discoloured.

04 Can I mix this with DOT 5?

No. DOT 5 is silicone based and does not mix with glycol based fluids. Mixing them is not safe.
